Mum and baby classes in Shefford
Two classes a week built around new mums, with babies and toddlers welcome in the room so there is no childcare to arrange before you can train. Both are taught by Sarah, who holds an ante and post natal award alongside Level 3 diplomas in Personal Training, Pilates and Yoga, so you are not being squeezed into a general class and hoping for the best.
The classes for mums
Mums Pilates
Designed and adapted with new mums in mind, focusing on posture, recovery and core strength as you come back to training. The exercises work on the muscle groups behind all the functional positions you end up in as a new mum, including the demands of pregnancy, holding and feeding. Sarah is qualified in pre and post natal exercise, so it is a safe place to start again rather than a general class you have been squeezed into. It runs on Thursday afternoons.
Baby & Me Strength
A friendly, supportive class for mum and baby or tots together, with no childcare needed. The focus is core strength, tone and flexibility, and it is as much a way to meet other mums going through the same thing as it is a workout. It runs on Friday mornings.
Coming back after birth
There is no rush and no expectation. Every session is adapted, you work at whatever level feels right on the day, and if you need to stop and see to your baby halfway through then that is completely normal and nobody minds.

Mums Pilates
Designed and adapted with new mums in mind, helping restore and balance the body with a focus on posture, recovery and core strength. Sarah is qualified in pre and post natal exercise, so it is a safe place to start training again. The exercises target post natal needs and relieve the stress and tension after birth, building the muscle groups behind the functional movements and positions new mums end up in, including the demands of pregnancy, holding and feeding.
Mat Pilates
Builds deep core strength, tones muscles, improves posture and increases flexibility through low impact, controlled movements. It targets the abdomen, lower back, hips and pelvic floor to work on total body stability and joint mobility.
Baby & Me Strength

Out of the studio, walks and paddle boarding on the Ivel with her bulldog, Teddy.

Common questions
Can I bring my baby?
Yes, that is the whole point of both classes. Babies and toddlers are welcome in the room, so there is no childcare to arrange and no need to find someone to watch them for an hour.
How long after birth can I start?
Most people wait until after their 6 week check and have a word with their GP or midwife first, though it varies a lot depending on your birth and how you are healing. Message us before you book and Sarah can talk it through with you.
Is the instructor qualified for postnatal work?
Yes. Sarah holds an ante and post natal award alongside Level 3 diplomas in Personal Training, Pilates and Yoga, plus a Level 3 Diploma in Exercise Referral, and has been teaching for 12 years.
What if my baby cries or needs feeding?
Then you see to them. Everyone in the room is in the same position and it happens in every single class, so there is nothing to apologise for and nobody will bat an eyelid.
What do I need to bring?
Water, and something for your baby to lie on if they are little. Mats and all the equipment are provided.
Do I need a Vibes Gym membership?
No. Anyone can book. Vibes Gym members pay less per class, but membership is not required.
